The Grumman F4F Wildcat is a single-engine single-seat carrier-based fighter aircraft produced by the US-American manufacturer Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation. F4F were operated by the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and the Royal Canadian Air Force. The F4F in service with the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm were designated Marlet.
The variant FM-1 (1220 aircraft) and FM-2 (4777 aircraft) were produced by the Eastern Aircraft division of General Motors.
