The Sikorsky S-76A is a medium 14-seat twin-engine multi-purpose helicopter produced by the American manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft. This helicopter type is mostly in operation with civil operators for executive passenger transport (VIP), emergency medical service (EMS), search and rescue operations (SAR) and offshore passenger and material transportation.
The original production version S-76A (Spirit) is equipped with two Detroit Diesel (Allison/Rolls-Royce) turboshaft-engines. The S-76A+ (manufacurer's designation) is equipped with two Turbomeca Arriel 1S engines, the S-76A++ with two improved Turbomeca Arriel 1S1 engines. A modification kit for the conversion from S-76A to S-76A+ or S-76A++ is available.
