Grumman G-44 Widgeon
Amphibious Utility Aircraft
The Grumman G-44 Widgeon is a twin-engined six-seat amphibious utility aircraft produced by the US-American manufacturer Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation. The G-44 in US military service was designated J4F by the United States Navy and Coast Guard and OA-14 by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF).
The G-44 was license-built in France by Societe de Construction Aero-Navale as the SCAN-30. McKinnon Enterprises converted more than 70 Widgeons to Super Widgeons. The conversion includes new Avco Lycoming GO-480-B1D engines (270 hp / 201 kW), modern avionics, 3-bladed propellers, larger windows, improved soundproofing, emergency exits and an increased MTOW of 2495 kg / 5500lbs.
